Patricia Montoya

March 17, 1938 — September 4, 2016

Patricia "Chata" Montoya, 78, of Lake Arthur, N.M., joined the Lord on September 4th, 2016 in Artesia, N.M. She left peacefully surrounded b family.

A rosary is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Montoya, Chris McNeil, Tootie McNeil, Jeremy Montoya, Thomas Baeza, Danny Montoya, Gonzalo Montoya III, and Richard McNeil. Honorary pallbearers will be children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patricia was born March 17, 1938 in Mulato, Mexico to Juana and German Valenzuela.

On January 17, 1956 she married Gonzalo Montoya Sr. in Presidio, Texas. They shared 60 years of marriage.

She was a homemaker, who loved God passionately. Her faith in Jesus Christ and his saints never ceased. She prayed for each of her children and grandchildren daily. Her hobbies included playing Bingo and Lottery Scratchers. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved music especially her favorite song "Mi Ranchito:",

She was preceded in death by her parents Juana and German Valenzuela; two daughters Natalia and Gloria; three brothers Felix, Felipe and Catarino Valenzuela; and a nephew Eric Segura.

She is survived by her husband Gonzalo Montoya Sr.; nine children Mary Pasillas of Roswell, NM, Lupe Baeza of Lake Arthur, Juanita Aguilar of Cottonwood, N.M., Rosa McNeil and husband Richard of Silver, N.M., Gonzalo Montoya Jr. and wife Diana of Lake Arthur, Abel Montoya of Lake Arthur, Javier Montoya of Lake Arthur, Danny Montoya of Lake Arthur, and Gabriel Montoya of Artesia; brothers Santos Valenzuela of Artesia, and Manuel Valenzuela of Mulato, Mexico; sister Lala Armendariz of Arlington, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and beloved friend Ana Denton.
