Orlando 'Landi' Fernandez, age 52, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Roswell, New Mexico. He was born on February 21, 1969 in Artesia, New Mexico; the son of Robert R. Fernandez and Mary Salmon Fernandez.
Landi was a lifelong resident of Artesia. He worked all his life but his favorite employer was, Mewbourne Oil Company. He loved his job and took pride in the company. This year would have celebrated his 22nd anniversary.
His faith in God was unwavering. His favorite bible verse was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". Landi Fernandez was a huge force on this Earth, willing to help any person who ever asked or needed it. He was a strong believer that everything he ever had was meant to be given those around him. He had so much faith in people and the good (God) within them. He enjoyed playing golf, but above all he loved making memories with people. He loved to come together and celebrate life with his family. This, to him, was all he ever needed.
Landi is survived by his wife of 28 years, Billie Jo Fernandez; sons Joe Fernandez and wife Jaqueline, Zacheriah Fernandez and wife Madison; daughter Mia 'Justice' Fernandez and Jeremy Lehman; grandchildren Jason Lehman, Sophia Fernandez, Zoey Fernandez, Isabella Fernandez, Jaxon Fernandez and one on the way; parents Robert and Mary Fernandez; brothers Robert Fernandez Jr, and Gilbert Fernandez; sisters Ermelinda Salazar, Julianne Baca and Corina Gonzales; his godchildren Kandase Eatmon, Monique 'Cachi' Martinez, Emilio Fernandez, and Xavier J. Gonzalez; and many more family members and friends that he loved dearly.
Services include a viewing at Terpening and Son Mortuary on Wednesday, January 19 from 2-4:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 6:30 pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. His funeral will be at OLG Catholic Church at 10:00 am Thursday, January 20.
Pall bearers will be Joe Fernandez, Zacheriah Fernandez, Robert Fernandez Jr., Gilbert Fernandez, Robert Fernandez III and Adrian Rivera. Honorary pallbears will be Emilio Fernandez and Xavier J. Gonzales.
The church asks that all attendees wear a mask.
Landi was preceded in death by his grandparents Heriberta and Herculano Salmon and Antonio and Josephine Fernandez, sister-in-law Balbina Fernandez. His Godfather, Miguel Salmon, followed him to Heaven on the 14th.
