Oran Mahaffey

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 31 at Terpening Son Mortuary for Oran Mahaffey of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Mahaffey, 91, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 Artesia. J.T. Ross and Jim Barnett will officiate at the services with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos, Texas. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Wallace, Don Smith, Clarence Forister, Nathan Barnett, Dennis Davis, and Grubbs Munson. Mr. Mahaffey was born June 11, 1911 in Wheeler County, Texas; the son of William E. Mahaffey and Mary Lucy Pritchett Mahaffey. On March 24, 1970 he was married to Emma Juanita Munson in Artesia. They came to Artesia from Pecos in 1983 He was a contractor and owned and operated a laundry mat in Pecos. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Judy Lee Griffin; a grandson Holland Weiss; and by four brothers. Survivors include his wife Juanita Mahaffey of the family home; sons Curtis Clifford Mahaffey, Floyd Harold Mahaffey of Houston, Texas and Tillman Walters of Artesia; a daughter Carolyn Kay Koiston of Florida; a brother Wilton E. Mahaffey of Albany, Oregon; sisters Mable Wallace of Hobbs, N.M., Berniece Garner of Canon City, Colorado, and Zyl Mahaffey of Carlsbad, N.M.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
