Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 9, at Terpening Son Chapel for Ora Mae Mayo, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Mayo, 76, died Monday, February 7, 2005 at Artesia General Hospital. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brian Hubbard, Tim Cummins, Dwayne Pounds, Jack Joy, Larry Lynch and John Metts. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday Mrs. Mayo was born February 6, 1929 in Weaver, Texas; the daughter of A.E. Copeland and Nannie Young Copeland. On Jan. 23, 1948 she was married to George Oliver Mayo in Clovis, New Mexico. She came to Artesia in January 1953 from Portales, New Mexico. He preceded her in death July 24, 1991. She was co-owner of Valley Tractor Sales. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and former member of 8th and Grand Church of Christ, Xi Beta Alpha a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Survivors include son George 0. Mayo Jr. of Levelland, Texas; sisters Myrtie Smith of Portales, N.M., Meriam Easter of Albuquerque, N.M., and Elnora Stafford of Amarillo, Texas; brother A.E. Copeland of Albuquerque; 5 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
