Ophelia Martinez

A viewing will be held for Ophelia Chavarria Martinez on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Terpening & Son Chapel. A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Church with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 am.

Mrs. Martinez was born in Artesia, NM on April 18, 1930. Ophelia passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home of 60 years on May 24, 2024.

Ophelia's favorite past time was dancing the Jitter Bug and embroidery. She would make beautiful quilts and dish towels and give them away as gifts.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Martinez, Erwin Martinez, Pat Martinez; daughter, Sylvia Gerardo; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.

Ophelia is preceded by her husband, Aucencio Martinez; her children, Aucencio Martinez, Jr, Olga Martinez, Jack Martinez, and Batola Martinez; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Angelo Gerardo, Emiliano Gerardo, Monte Cristo Martinez, Ramiro Martinez, Robert Rimbert, Abraham Rimbert. Honorary pallbearers include Antonio Aragon, Francisco Rimbert, Xavier Gerardo.
