Opal Norris

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at the Hagerman Cemetery for Opal Lewis Norris of Hagerman, New Mexico. PMrs. Norris, 76, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at her home. PRev. Steven Deutsch will officiate at the services. PNo public viewing or visitation is scheduled. PMrs. Norris was born May 7, 1931 in Artesia, New Mexico; the daughter of John Webster Lewis and Minnie Etta Potts Lewis. PShe was a resident of Artesia until moving to Hagerman in 1950. POn Sept. 20, 1950 she was married to George Rex Norris in Artesia. He preceded her in death April 29, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and three sisters. POpal was a homemaker and avid seamstress. She loved cooking, gardening, planting flowers, her dogs and to watch birds.
Survivors include her sons George Riley Norris and wife Janet Lynn of Roswell, N.M., and Ronald Norris and wife Jill of Hagerman; daughters Suzanne Dawson and husband Charlie of Huntsville, Texas, and Margaret Runyon and husband Kevin of Chandler, Arizona; sisters-in-law Johnnie Mae Laman of Artesia, Thelma Lewis of Artesia, and Phyllis Lewis of Ignacio, Colorado; grandchildren Jason Dawson, Chad Dawson, Shawna Runyon Acosta and husband Joe, Justin Runyon, A'Lora Norris, and Bryan Norris; and Opal became a great-grandmother on the 24th of April with the arrival of Madisen Morgan Acosta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
