Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 27, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Opal H. Bruton of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Bruton, 87, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 in Artesia. Pastor Bobby Argo and Don Price will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Travis Schenk, Daniel Bruton, David Bruton, Ed Bruton, Jake Bruton, and Jeff Davis. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2:00 P.M. Sunday. Mrs. Bruton was born July 20, 1917 in Delta, Colorado. On Oct. 19, 1941 she was married to Jake Meek Bruton in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She came to Artesia in 1967 from Carlsbad, N.M. Her husband preceded her in death August 26, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents Ed Palmer and Inda Eva Miller Hill, four brothers, and two sisters. She was a Sales Clerk at Anthony's and Bealls and owned and operated the Flair Drive-In her first five years in Artesia. She was also a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God where she was an active member and a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her two sons Jake Bruton and wife Sharon Ann of Artesia and Daniel Paul Bruton and wife Patricia Ann of Artesia; three daughters Roxie Lou Boykin of Flint, Texas, Barbara Parrish and husband Harold of Artesia, and Jutie Lyn White and husband Bennie of Artesia; sister Ruby Pool of Winnsboro, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Artesia Good Samaritan Center Alzheimers Unit, 1402 Gilchrist Ave., Artesia, N.M. 88210.
