Opal Barnett

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 3, at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary for Opal Barnett of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Barnett, 99, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 in Artesia.

Rev. Gerald Harper will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under direction of Terpening amp; Son Mortuary.

Mrs. Barnett was born January 28, 1905 in Healdon, Oklahoma; the daughter of Henry DeBerry and Effie Todd DeBerry.

On June 21, 1923 she was married to Squire Boone Barnett in Orr, Oklahoma. She came to Artesia from Oklahoma in 1925. Her husband preceded her in death December 26, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by two daughters and two brothers.

She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church. She was a Legacy member of Delta Omega Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International; the Artesia Sewing Club; Eastern Star; and the Artesia Bridge Club.

Survivors include daughters Billie Sue Williams of Albuquerque, N.M. and Betty Powell of Artesia; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
