Services are scheduled at 11:00 am Friday, May 30, at First United Methodist Church for Olen Travis Cardwell, of Artesia.
Mr. Cardwell, 75, died Sunday, May 25, at his home surrounded by his family.
Rev. Monty Leavell will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.
Olen was born March 11, 1939 in Brownfield, Texas the son of George Cardwell and Elizabeth Travis Cardwell. He came to Artesia in 1976 from Hobbs, New Mexico.
On May 26, 1961 he was married to Barabara Cox in Denver City, Texas.
He was employed by Amoco Production Company, retiring after 32 years. After retiring he enjoyed running samples for Navajo Refinery and Holly Energy Partners and visiting with all of his friends there. He loved his family and friends and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Artesia Bulldogs and loved fishing and hunting with his son.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Cardwell of Artesia son Greg Cardwell and wife Melany of Artesia daughter Shay Ray and husband Randy of San Antonio, TX sisters Dalphene Benson of Denver City, TX and GeorgeAnna Prather of McCamey, TX grandchildren Aubany Porter and husband Blair of Artesia, Travis Ray of Houston, TX, Kayla Cardwell of Artesia, Kameron Cooper and husband Andrew of Buffalo, TX greatgrandsons Hudson Porter and Brady Cooper. Olen is also survived by many friends at Amoco, Navajo and Holly Energy Partners and his longtime loyal friend Jeri Dodd. Mr. Cardwell was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
