Ola Whaley

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 4, at Terpening Son Chapel for Ola M. Whaley, 1103 Yates, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Whaley, 88, died Friday, October 1, 2004 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Mrs. Whaley was born August 8, 1916 in Erick, Oklahoma; the daughter of Eural Enoch Rogers and Daisy Serena Gunnels Rogers. On Nov. 5, 1938 she was married to Clarence Chester Whaley in Erick, Oklahoma. She came to Artesia in 1945 from Erick. He preceded her in death June 27, 1965. She was a Nurse's Aid and member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and a step-brother. Survivors include son Quillen Whaley and wife Ruth of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter Brenda Dowell and husband John of Artesia; sister-in-law Dolly Lakey of Lubbock, Texas; grandsons Stephen Dowell and wife Beth of Lovington, N.M., Brian Whaley and wife Karen of Kuna, Idaho, and Robert Whaley and wife Jen of Mission Viejo, Calif.; great-grandchildren Cody Dowell of Lovington, Stephanie Dowell of Lovington, and Derrek Brent of Kuna; numerous nieces and nephews.
