Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 5, at First Baptist Church for Octavia A. Wallace of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Wallace, 51, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at her home. Rev. Gary Warden of Las Cruces, N.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Royce Pearson, Mike Guerrero, Sammy Madrid, Gary Sherrell, Johnny Hammond, and Guy Chavarria. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernard Schneider, Bobby Schneider, Ishmael Juarez, Joe Ross, Sr., Frank Devine, and Stanley Waldrip. Mrs. Wallace was born September 22, 1952 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas; the daughter of James Pinkerton and Letha Pierce Pinkerton. She came to Artesia in the 1950's from Oklahoma. On March 27, 1976 she was married to Edmond Sonny Wallace in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death March 24, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Billy Wallace, a daughter Sandra Pinkerton, an aunt Velma Stiles, and an uncle Ed Pierce. She was a Firefighter and Lab Technician for Navajo Refinery. She was a member of Centre Ave. Baptist Church and Cornerstone Fellowship; and the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. Survivors include sons Wayne Wallace of Artesia and Sonny Wallace of Artesia; step-son Tim Wallace of Phoenix, Arizona; brothers Jim Pinkerton of Searchlight, Nevada, John Pinkerton of Artesia, Pat Pinkerton of Artesia, and Phillip Pinkerton of Artesia; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
