We are celebrating the life of Granny Jo Briscoe on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 1:00pm. The ceremony will be held at Church of God, 901 S. 20th St Artesia, NM 88210.
Following the service there will be gathering of loved ones and family at the cherished home of the Briscoe family, 2710 W Grand.
Granny Jo 'Nee' Thompson-Briscoe was born to Garland Thompson and Lola Ingrim Thompson in Duncan OK on December 17, 1932.
Granny Jo was married to John M. Briscoe on October 19, 1954 in Lovington NM. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a loyal friend to many.
In her life she loved many activities. Her life was filled with hunting, camping, gardening, ceramics, sewing, card playing, yahtzee and so many others, too many to list. Her favorite activity in life, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Granny Jo passed away on December 10, 2016. She was home, surrounded by her beloved family.
Granny Jo is survived in life by:
Sister, Virginia Trujillo of California. Four children, Garlin Willingham and wife Debbie of Artesia, Bonnie Hutchison of Artesia, Reta Briscoe of Hobbs, and Jenny Bias and Husband John of Artesia.
Nieces: Trish ( Patita Do) and Betty Jean
Grandchildren: Kevin, Shelly, Bryan, Angela, Kristy, Shannon, Sarah, Summer, Devlin and Tyrell.
Great grandchildren: Robert, Velouria, Chance, Donovan, Tristin, Naysa,Gianna, Elyse, Brandalynn, Bella, Michael, Laicey, Destiny, Scarlett, Lynox.
Granny Jo was proceeded in death by Husband John M. Briscoe, parents and grandson Lance, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Know to all was her love for grand children and great grandchildren. Especially known was the dislike of her first given name, NORMA. The only allowed family to use this name were her great grandchildren, they called her Sweet Granny Norma.
