Nora Mccaw

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, at First Presbyterian Church for Nora Helen McCaw, 210 Crossbow Rd., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Mccaw, 89, died Friday, August 9, 2013 at her home.

Rev. Daniel Phelps will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam McCaw, Ben White, Jimmy Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Steve Hollinger,Harold Green and Gary Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Hayes and Mike Cleary.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday .

Helen was born September 21, 1923 in Decatur, Mississippi the daughter of I. P. Johnson and Nora Ann Strebeck Johnson. She came to Artesia in 1924 from Mississippi.

On July 15, 1944 she was married to Robert S. McCaw in Cottonwood, N.M. He preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1993.

She was owneroperator Mode ODay Dress shop, and Arrow Realtor. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Womens Bible Study, Cottonwood Extension Club and a 4H Leader.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sons Richard Sterling McCaw and James Robert McCaw, greatgrandson Sterling Bowen McCaw, brothers Lamar Johnson, George Johnson, Charles Johnson and Herman Johnson, sisters Oleta Cooper, Oneta Brown, Christine Butler and Lorene Lambert.

Survivors include son Norbert McCaw and wife Susie of Artesia daughters Roberta McCaw of Artesia, and Winnie Helen Hayes and husband Bub of Chandler, Arizona brother W.I. Bill Johnson of Artesia sisters Cleo Gossett of Ephrata, Washington, Mary McCaw of Carlsbad, N.M. Edna Utterback of Hagerman, N.M., and Elizabeth Butler of Albuquerque, N.M. grandchildren Michelle Cleary and Bryan Mosley, Mike and Suzanne Cleary, Nora and Ben White, Marty and Scott Pettus, Sam and Jackie McCaw, Josh and Miha Hayes, Tonya and Jon Beauchaine 10 greatgrandchildren.
