Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Oct. 18, at Woodbine Cemetery for Nora Agnes Cockrum of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Cockrum, 83, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Rev. Peggy White will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Mrs. Cockrum was born September 25, 1927 in Artesia, New Mexico the daughter of Wes Needham and Flora Mabel Wilson Needham.
On July 17, 1947 she was married to John Leo Cockrum in Artesia, N.M. She was a lifelong Artesia resident. He preceded her in death November 3, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents son John Clinton Cockrum grandson James Clinton Cockrum brother John Wesley Needham and sister Bonnie Lynn Parrish.
Nora was the Local registrar for Eddy County for 17 years. She also worked as a secretary and a copy writer for KSVP. She was an Artesia H.S. graduate in 1945. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, past president of the Artesia Garden Club, Artesia Story League, and the Artesia Arts Council. She was also an avid artist and loved to paint and play the piano.
Survivors include her daughter Charlotte Lynn Gleghorn and husband Warren of Artesia sons Stephen Wesley Cockrum and wife Virginia of Artesia, and Jerry Neal Cockrum and wife Janet of Houston, TX sister Carolyn Louise Plummer and husband Bill of Dallas, TX grandchildren Chase Gleghorn, Tisha Davis, Craig Cockrum, Amy Herrera, Chad Cockrum, Jeremy Cockrum, and John Michael Cockrum and 9 greatgrandchildren.
