Nina Shannon

Nina Shannon, 87, beloved Mother and Wife, was called quietly and peacefully to her eternal resting place on February 18, 2017. She entered this world on March 27, 1929 in Brock, OK, born to Walter and Nena Copeland.

Three days after her passing, on February 21, 2017, her beloved and devoted husband, Delmer "Mutt" Shannon was also called by the Lord to join her with Him in their heavenly home, together again.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lenoy Arp and Peggy Glass Vinson, and one brother, David Copeland.

Mutt was born on September 20, 1931, in Ralls, Tx., to William H. and Bonnie Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cloie Freemel and Lora Roberts; and two brothers, J B Shannon and William Shannon.

Mutt and Nina are survived by daughter Elaine Roach and late husband Tom of Roswell; daughter Patricia Ferrell and husband Joe of Capitan; son Tim Shannon and wife Lana of Purcell, Ok.; son Michael Shannon and wife Anita of Artesia; Nina's brother Don Copeland of Roswell; and Mutt's sister Bessie Rhodes of Carrollton, Tx. In addition to their children, they are also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and immeasurable number of "adopted" children and grandchildren whom they counted as their own.

They felt extremely blessed to have made many friends throughout the decades of living in Artesia and cherished each of them. They were particularly grateful and thankful to God for the exceptional care and love they were given by the Hermosa Church of Christ family during the last years as they were unable to attend but were served so faithfully by their church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, 1:00 pm. at Hermosa Church of Christ, 2512 W. Bush Ave., Artesia, NM. 88210.
