Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM. Tuesday, February 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Nicanor Arenivas, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Arenivas, 85, died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Fr. Richard Lifrak SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Mr. Arenivas was born January 3, 1919 in San Antonio, Ojinaga, Mexico. He came to Artesia in 1945 from Pecos, Texas. On May 24, 1985 he was married to Guadalupe Delgado in Artesia, NM. She preceded him in death May 22, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Jose Luis Arenivas, a sister, and a grandson. He was a farm laborer and worked for the City of Artesia Parks Department for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Survivors include sons Jesus Arenivas of Hamford, Calif., Carlos Arenivas of Artesia, Manuel Arenivas of Bakersfield, Calif., Nick Arenivas of Bakersfield, Ismael Arenivas of Bakersfield, Oscar Arenivas of Bakersfield, Alfredo Arenivas of Bakersfield, and Adam Arenivas of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Elidia Arenivas of Bakersfield, Rosalinda Vasquez of Bakersfield, and Eva Arenivas of Bakersfield; brother Sisto Ponce of Artesia; twenty-two grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
