Nellie Casabonne

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, at the Upper Hope Cemetery for Nellie Lange Casabonne of Hope, New Mexico. Mrs. Casabonne, 89, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Vista Care Hospice in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Paul Casabonne, Randall Jones, John Michael Wood, and Deopp Crockett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Wallace, John Dewayne Casabonne, and Kendale Hendricks. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mrs. Casabonne was born July 20, 1919 in Hagerman, New Mexico; the daughter of Leonard Lange and Lula Barnett Lange. Nellie was a graduate of the Hagerman School System. On March 26, 1944 she was married to Johnny Casabonne in Carlsbad, N.M. She was a lifelong resident of the Artesia area including Hagerman and Hope. He preceded her in death March 25, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister; daughter Linda Bowman; and grandson John Dewayne Casabonne. Nellie was a ranchers wife and a member of United Methodist Church in Hope. She was also active in the Women's Society of Christian Service, and Adult Senior Citizen's Center of Hope. Survivors include her son Larry Casabonne of Artesia; grandchildren Regina Casabonne, Melinda Jones, and Paul Casabonne; great-grandchildren Christy Jones, John Michael Wood, LaKayla Wood, Brian Jones, Chelsey Casabonne, Austin Jones, Mikeala Casabonne, Dylan Jones, Madison Casabonne, Elyssa Jones, Alana Casabonne, and Paul Casabonne, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Hope. In the loving memory of our Grandma: She gave love and support to all of her grandchildren and her family. The memories we all have of going to her house and seeing her beautiful face and playing numerous games and laughing and having old fashion fun will be missed. The memories will live in all of our hearts always. We will miss her so but we know she is heaven and singing and rejoicing with the Lord.
