Closed casket services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, at First Baptist Church for longtime Artesia, N.M. resident Nell Wilson. Mrs. Wilson, 85, died Friday morning, May 6, 2005 in Roswell, N.M. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ed Lee, Steve Willard, Joe Tillery, Bones Newsom, Ronnie Null, Bill Rhodes, and Jimmy Johnson. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Annah Nell Wilson was born October 10, 1919 in Hollis, Oklahoma; the daughter of A. R. Beene and Mona Tedford Beene. On March 17, 1946 she was married to Gerald A. Wilson in Amarillo, Texas. They came to Artesia in 1962 from Portales, N.M. Her husband preceded her in death December 26, 1996. She was also preceded in death by three brothers including Jack Beene in 2002. Mrs. Wilson moved to Roswell in October of 2003. She was a substitute public school teacher and was a Welcome Wagon hostess until her retirement in 1988. She was an active member of First Baptist Church; and was a member of the Artesia Garden Club; the Association of Retired Teachers; and T.O.P.S. Survivors include a son Jerry Wilson and wife Holly of Metairie, La.; a daughter Mona Williams and husband Herm of Artesia; granddaughters Rebecca Williams and Deborah Williams both of Artesia; a sister Beth Morris of Vega, Texas; and by four nieces and four nephews. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sivell's Baptist Camp, co First Baptist Church, 322 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, NM 88210 or to a charity of one's choice.
