Myrtle Ferriman

March 24, 1910 — December 28, 2010

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at First United Methodist Church for Myrtle Dutch Ferriman, 806 W. Missouri Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Ferriman, 100, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at her home.

Rev. James I. Edwards will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brian Johnson, Jess Carpenter, Bo Carpenter, Jason Mansell, Jerry Berry and Mike Sedillo. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.

Myrtle was born March 24, 1910 in Callahan County, Texas the daughter of Perry Roop and Nancy Jane Pennington Roop.

She married Thomas Franklin on May 17,1926 in Sunshine Valley, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1942. Her husband preceded her in death May 31, 1958.

On June 3, 1972 she was married to George Ferriman in Artesia. He preceded her in death June 24, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a son James Franklin, a daughter Nancy Sparrow, a greatgrandson Tommy Sparrow and by ten brothers and sisters.

She was a seamstress and worked for the Toggery Shop for 30 years. She was a lifelong Methodist and member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, BPO Does, and the Garden Club and enjoyed china painting until her eyesight failed.

Survivors include a daughter Tommy Sanders of Artesia stepchildren Mike Ferriman and wife Marsha, Bob Ferriman and wife Nancy, and Carol Swickard and husband Bill ten grandchildren: Jeanne Graham, Karey Stock, Kevin Sanders, Jaynie Hager, Jamie Johnson and Kim Johnson all of Artesia, Sherry Berry of Oklahoma, Cindy Carpenter of Truth or Consequences, N.M. and Heather Prince and Tom Sparrow both of Las Cruces, N.M. 20 greatgrandchildren and 13 greatgreatgrandchildren.
