My Allison

December 17, 1948 — November 18, 2014

Jimmy Jim Reed Allison, 65, of Artesia, NM, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. Jim was born on December 17, 1948.

Jim had many accomplishments in his life. He retired as captain after a 23 year career with the New Mexico State Police. He dedicated his life to making New Mexico a safer place to live, and continued that in his 21 years at Safer New Mexico Now as a Law Enforcement Liaison, as well as local community entrepreneur and true Artesia Bulldog fan.

Jim had a passion for living life to the fullest extent, and for bringing joy to all those around him. He loved going to the mountains, riding fourwheelers, hunting, golfing, and being surrounded by friends and family. Of all the things he loved, his favorite thing was being with his wife, Kim. One of his favorite catchphrases, among many, was Life is Good.

The most important thing in his life was family. Love of family, of all people, and his love for the Father and the Son were what he treasured most. He treated everyone like family and never met a stranger. He surrounded himself with love and laughter always seizing the opportunity to make someone feel like they were the only one in the room.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kim Allison, four children, James Wesley Allison and his wife Bethany, Kimberly Barris and husband Paul Barris Jr., Travis Bilberry and wife Katie, and Chelsea Bilberry. Jim also had eight grandchildren, James Paul Barris III, Madison Barris, Mikayla Allison, Courtney Allison, Kyrsten Allison, Logan Turk, Bryant Bilberry and Jase Bilberry and a great granddaughter Kylie Barris brothers Julian Allison and wife Debbie, and Franklin Allison and wife Theresa mother and fatherinlaw Don and Shirley Smith, brothers and sistersinlaw Rusty and Jeanie Smith, Debbie and Jon Nichols and Mike and Margie Smith, numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved Maltese, Gracie.
