Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008, at Woodbine Cemetery for Moreen Harwell, 310 S. 38th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Harwell, 80, died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Tom Dawson and Terry McKean will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Mike Wood, Donnie Wood, Rick Ford, Wesley Billips, Josh Harwell, Adam Harwell, Tim Patton, Bill Patton and Paula Klemm. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary from 2:30 to 3:30 pm Sunday. Mrs. Harwell was born May 11, 1928 in Tuttle, Oklahoma; the daughter of Rebecca Cantrell McLellan and Buck McLellan. She came to Artesia in 1930 from Oklahoma. On July 28, 1946 she was married to Thomas B. Harwell in Artesia. He preceded her in death Nov. 17, 2004. She was a homemaker and Nurses Aide at the Artesia Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of the Baptist denomination, Moose Lodge, and Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald Doc and Rebecca Loucks, a son Don Walker, brothers Paul Daniel Loucks and Robert Cantrell. Survivors include a son Steve Harwell of Artesia; daughters Lynette Wood and husband Larry of Artesia, Becky Ramos and husband David of Artesia, and Tommie Sue Bruner and husband Ray of Kyle, Texas; sister Ava Lee Wood and husband Edgar of Talihina, Okla.; aunt Johnnie Cook of Albuquerque, N.M.; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Christian Hospice Care 1300 N. Canal, Carlsbad, NM 88220.
