PServices are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 17 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Monica Briseno Chavez of Artesia, New Mexico.P
PMrs. Chavez, 92, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her home.P
PFr. Michael Briseno will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.P
PVisitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be at church Sunday at 6:30 p.m.P
PMonica was born May 4, 1921 in Dayton, New Mexico the daughter of Jesus Briseno and Estanislada Navarette Briseno. She was a life long Artesia area resident.P
PIn 1943 she was married to Manuel Chavez in Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, a daughter, a grandson, five half siblings, and two brothers.P
PMonica was a housekeeper and retired from Artesia General Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace and love to play bingo.P
PSurvivors include her daughter Mary M. Chavez of Ft. Worth, Texas sons Jesus R. Briseno of Los Lunas, N.M., and Jose A. Perches of Artesia 10 grandchildren 10 greatgrandchildren 1 greatgreatgrandchild and brothers Robert Briseno of Las Cruces, N.M., and Prudencio Briseno of Artesia.P
