Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, at Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, 2613 W. Richardson, for Mona Ruth Van Winkle-Schoonmaker of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Schoonmaker, 83, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at her home. PRev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ray Downs, Mike Downs, Milo Schoonmaker, Johnny Day, John Thurman, and J.J. Lannholm. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of the remaining grandchildren. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. PMrs. Schoonmaker was born October 27, 1922 in Hot Springs, New Mexico; the daughter of Oran Van Winkle and Bessie Jackson Van Winkle. POn Aug. 10, 1936 she was married to Joe Schoonmaker in Juarez, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1971 from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He preceded her in death Sept. 27, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her sister lnez Knowles Graham; brothers A.J. and Oran Van Winkle; daughter Rebecca Schoonmaker; grandsons James Day, Cody Downs and Paul Muncy; and special friends Marie Van Winkle and Lucile Montgomery. PShe worked as a X-ray Lab Technician, owned and operated several businesses in Truth or Consequences with her husband including the Rio Grande Garage and later the Joes Radio and Repair Shop. During WWII they moved to Denver, Colorado and worked in a munitions plant and they also owned and operated a service station in Bayard, New Mexico. She was a member of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church. PSurvivors include her daughters Louise and husband Bob Ratigan of Roswell, N.M., LaVerne Carlo of Artesia, Janis Day of Artesia; sons John Schoonmaker of Artesia and Alton and wife Diana Schoonmaker of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister Ann and husband Pat Bradley of Cloudcroft, N.M.; sister-in-law B.J. Van Winkle of Artesia; and grandchildren Ray and wife Linda Donwns of Roswell, Margie and husband Tony Pennington, Jeannie and husband Gary Eastman, Jerry and wife Kim Carlo, Larry Muncy, Stacey and husband John Thurman, Johnny and wife Michelle Day, Milo Schoonmaker, Ruth Wakeland, Jody and husband Rob Houghtaling all of Artesia, Debbie and husband Vic Jenkins of Midland, Texas, Scott Demore, Mike and wife Susy Downs of T.or C., N.M., Susan Muncy of Sonora, California, Michelle Thomas, Lynn Selby both of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma, Alton Schoonmaker of Denver, Colorado, Jake Schoonmaker, and J.J. Lannholm and Tiffany Schoonmaker all of Albuquerque, N.M. PAlso surviving are great-grandchildren Destinee Downs, Josh and Lindsey Downs, Shales and husband Ryan Zuniga, Shawn and husband Lee Halsell, Tony and wife Terra Pennington, Krissy and husband Mark Duncan, Travis Carlo, Trystin Carlo, Delanie Carlo, Kirra Thurman, Kyle Thurman, Casey Matthews, Levi Bartlett, Wesley Stone, Hunter Houghtaling, Racheal Wakeland, Savannah Wakeland, Joleen Wakeland, Sari Wakeland, and Laguinia Stewart all of Artesia, Crystal Downs of Las Cruces N.M., Shelby Downs and Quaid Downs of T. or C., P.J. Muncy and Lea Muncy of Sonora, Calif., Matthew Stoehner, Chris and wife Jessie Stoehner, JoBeth Wilson, Billy Jo Jenkins of Midland, Texas, Angela Demore, Jamie Demore, Nichole Demore, Chelsea Demore, Austin Demore of Pecos, Texas, C.D. Demore, Thomas Derryberry of Red Oak, Okla., Mary Lou Foster of Blue Jacket, Okla., Levi Day and Dustin Day of Alamogordo, N.M., Bailey Schoonmaker, Kyler Lannholm of Albuquerque, and Joseph Rodriguez; and great-great-grandchildren Justin Downs, Connor Downs, Ray Downs, Aaron Downs of Roswell, Kinnah Zuniga, Chasee Zuniga, Jaron Halsell, Taylan Halsell, Clay Pennington, and Kylee Duncan all of Artesia, Tyler Stoehner, Shannon Stoehner, Kasey Stoehner, Nicholas Stoehner, Austin Stoehner and Dylan Wilson all of Midland, Texas. PAlso are all of her Kingston Kids; Sonja Franklin, Sandra Franklin, Dennis Franklin, Troy Franklin, Sharon Franklin, Marie Stevens, Vivian Stevens, Johnny Stevens, Tommy Stevens, Sonny Hale, The Keogh Boys you were our Mockingbird Hill.
