Modene Martin, 88, was born August 19, 1926 in Crosscut, Texas. She was one of seven children born to George and Bessie Hunter. She married D.L. Martin in 1942, and lived in Denver City, Texas until moving to Artesia in 1961. She was a faithful Christian and loving homemaker.
Modene put her heart and soul into making a loving home for her three children. Her loving heart grew bigger with the addition of her four grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. She worked very hard at her labors of love, always doing everything she could to make sure everyone in her family was happy and healthy. She gave all of her time, energy and love while caring for her motherinlaw, fatherinlaw, husband, and son during their last years. She wanted nothing more in life than for her children and grandchildren to be loved, happy, and have faith in the Lord. She was also pleased with any win by the Artesia Bulldogs and Dallas Cowboys.
Modene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, her husband D.L. Martin, and son David Martin.
She is survived by two daughters, Pat Williams and Edwina Martin of Artesia, New Mexico a soninlaw Charlie Williams of Midland, Texas granddaughters Amy Herron and husband Danny of Artesia, New Mexico, Karen DeLeon of Arlington, Texas, Julie Williams of Midland, Texas, and Tammy Martin and husband Bill of Odessa Texas greatgrandchildren Melanie Herron and Travis Herron of Artesia, New Mexico, and Jordan Mayo of Arlington, Texas sister Lucille Gilliam of San Angelo, Texas, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Services for Modene will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 13, at Hermosa Church of Christ. Michael Joiner and Dwayne Pounds will officiate at the services.
Internment will be at 3:30 p.m. CST Saturday at Denver City Memorial Park in Denver City, Texas.
