Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, October 2, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Minnie Gomez of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Gomez, 83, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at her home. Fr. Brian Guerrini, SSCC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Adrian Romo, Santino Gomez, Bill Asbury, Louie Padilla, George Reid and David Gomez. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Gomez was born March 1, 1925 in Artesia, New Mexico; the daughter of Hilardio Gomez and Anita Montoya Gomez. On April 6, 1957 she was married to Edward Gomez in Las Cruces, N.M. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia. Minnie was a Wool Presser for Artesia Laundry and Cleaners for over 40 years. She was a member of Our lady of Grace Catholic Church, LULAC organization, a seamstress and wonderful cook. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and 2 brothers. Survivors include her husband Ed Gomez of the family home; daughter Peggy Gomez and husband Thomas Sanchez of Denver, Colorado; brother Cosme Gomez and wife Faye of Artesia; grandchildren Celina Gomez, Santino Gomez, and Thomas Sanchez, Jr all of Denver; and great-grandchildren Anthony Martinez, Jr., Marcus Martinez, Brandon Sanchez, and Ethan Sanchez all of Denver.
