Mildred Watts

Services are scheduled at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 22, at Terpening Son Chapel for Mildred Virginia Johnson Self Watts, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Watts, 75, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia. Chaplain Mike Talley will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jason Self, Ben Rhoda, Brandon Self, Ross, Clanton, and Riley Lane Clanton. Mrs. Watts was born September 5, 1927 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the daughter of Pearl F. Johnson and Minnie Manley Johnson. On 1975 she was married to John Wafts in Del Rio, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia. He preceded her in death 1996. She was a L.P.N. at Good Samaritan Care Center and member of First Baptist Church, Drum Majorette, and a Flip Twirler. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Eula Fredricks, brother Rell Johnson, and her former husband, John Watts. Survivors include daughters Karen L. Lively Self of Chesterton, Indiana, and Sally S. Ben Rhoda of Westville, Indiana; son Jason Self of Hobbs, NM; sisters Anna Jane Lane of Hobbs, and Peggy Stice of Peyota, Arizona; brother Bud Johnson of Port Angeles, Washington; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Donations can be made to the Lakeview Hospice Foundation.
