Mildred Watson, age 87, passed away on June 11, 2009 at her home in Lubbock, Texas, with her family at her bedside. She was born as Mildred Annie Meador in Portland, Tennessee, on March 9, 1922. On March 28, 1946, she married Edward Vernon Watson in Artesia, New Mexico. Edward and Mildred moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1993. PMildred frequently served as a substitute teacher for Artesia Public Schools during the 1960s. She was a very devoted Christian for most of her life. She was also a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a sacrificial friend to those who knew her. PMildred is survived by Edward Vernon Watson, her husband of 63 years, mother Eura Meador age 105, daughter Mona Wiley, sons Greg and Raun, granddaughters Dawn Pace and Kelly Watson, grandsons Neal and Eric Watson, great-grandson Blaine Pace, and brothers Forrest and Wayne Meador. PA funeral service will be held at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. Tommy Hicks, minister of the Southside Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at Lubbock Cemetery.
