Michael A Maurer Sr. passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. We are sure he was welcomed by Jesus, his wife Glenda, his mother Erma, his dad Wallace, his siblings and many other family and friends.
Mike was born February 26, 1949, in Coeur d'Alene Idaho to Wallace and Erma Maurer, the oldest of 7 children.
Mike grew up in the Roseburg, Oregon area. We heard many stories about shenanigans and mischief he got into with his siblings. After reaching adulthood Mike joined the Navy and served three tours in Vietnam. Mike loved his country and was proud to be a veteran. While serving he was stationed in California and went into a gift shop on Treasure Island and met Glenda. They were married on December 28, 1971, in Virginia Beach, VA. They were married 39 years when Glenda passed in January 2020.
Mike attended Arlington Baptist College and received a license to preach in October 1975. He became an ordained minister in April of 1983. He pastored Calvary Missionary Baptist church in Farwell, Texas a short time and became the pastor of Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Artesia in 2000.
Mike was an avid HAM radio operator and a member of MARS.
Mike enjoyed telling people about Jesus his Lord and Savior, watching the Dallas Cowboys play, hunting, fishing, camping, and much more as well as spending time with family and friends. Family and Holidays were very important to Mike. He started and continued many family traditions.

A sister Sharon Pyle and brother Jeff Knight of Roseburg, Oregon area.
4 children - Gayla Skeen (David) Alto, NM, Tammy Davis(Ronny) Artesia, NM, Michael Maurer Jr., Artesia, NM and Jennifer Sallee(Jeremy), Artesia, NM.
14 grandchildren - Ohlin & Annalyn Skeen, Greg, Kendra, Tawny & Wiliam Davis, Preston, Dakota(Audrey), Marly, Michael and Sophia Maurer, Kaylie(Jessie)Cano, Katelynn, and Kaden Sallee.
6 great grandchildren and
Boris his beloved dog
A viewing will be held for Michael Albert Maurer, Sr on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Terpening & Son Chapel. A graveside service will be on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at Woodbine Cemetery.
