Michael Madrid

Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM Friday, September 21, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Michael J. Madrid, 4215 Elks Rd., Space 31, Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mr. Madrid, 25, died Saturday, September 15, 2001 at west of Artesia. Father Clemente Comesky will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Cardenas, Marcos Morillon, Gary Martinez, Gary Lopez, Gino Torres and Frank DeHoyas. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Dominguez, Danny Valdez Jr., Chris Polsom and Robie Morrison. A rosary service is also planned for 6:30 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Michael was born August 9, 1976 in Artesia; the son of Sam Salinas Madrid and Beatrice Bueno Madrid. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia until moving to Las Cruces in 1994. On March 9, 2001, he was married to Veronica J. Valdez in Las Cruces. He was a department manager for Walmart and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Las Cruces. He was also a drummer for the band Todo. He was preceded in death by his father in 1994 and his mother-in-law Stella Valdez in 1993. Survivors include his wife Veronica Madrid of the family home; mother Beatrice Madrid of Artesia; father-in-law Danny D. Valdez, Sr. and wife Christne of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother Anthony Guerrero of Artesia; a sister Tracie Marie Madrid of Artesia; grandparents Joe and Geneva Bueno of Artesia and Maria Rivas of Artesia.
