Micaela Galvan

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 26, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Micaela C. Galvan, of Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Galvan, 103, died Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. PFr. Paul Murtagh SSCC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Mariscal, James Bejarano, J.J. Batie, Alonzo Lopez, Larry Campos, and Franky Grado, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all the remaining grandchildren. PVisitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary beginning 3:00 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be at Our Lady of Grace beginning 7:00 p.m. Sunday. PMrs. Galvan was born January 5, 1904 in Lajitas, Texas; the daughter of Encarnacion Chavez and Severa Gomez Chavez. PIn 1925 she was married to Jose Galvan, Sr. in Terlingua, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1937. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Alpine, Texas. Then in November of 1954 she was married to Hilario Brito in Artesia. He preceded her in death in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; eight sisters; son Jesus Galvan; daughters Maria Leyba, and Josepha Lazos; one grand-daughter; and one great-grandson. PShe was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Curcillista's. PSurvivors include her daughters Sister Grace Galvan of El Paso, Texas, Feliciana Nena Aguilar of Hobbs, N.M., Ida Bejarano of Artesia, Estela Saiz of Artesia, Dora Campos of Artesia, Lupe Beltran of Artesia, Martha Grado of Artesia, Lucy Brito of Houston, Texas, and Zelda Partida of Houston, Texas; sons Jose Galvan, Jr. of Modesto, California, and Sammy Brito of Las Vegas, Nevada; 53 grandchildren; 104 great-grandchildren; and 76 great-great-grandchildren.
