Micaela Aranda

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Micaela Ortiz Aranda of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Aranda, 84, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at her home.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Victor Santillan, Jr., Carl Madrid, Lito Aranda, Daniel Aranda, Chesarae Ochoa, and Eric Aranda. Honorary pallbearers will be Saul Aranda, Trey Aranda, Billy Joe Aranda, and Michael Aranda.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Micaela was born July 2, 1928 in Mulato, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1959 from Mexico.

On April 5, 1943 she was married to Valente Aranda, Sr. in Mexico. They came to Artesia in 1959 from Mexico. He preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents daughters Dora Aranda and Maria Angelica Aranda son Juan Manuel Aranda 3 brothers a sister and a grandson Senobio Aranda, Jr.

She worked as a cook at La Fonda and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lake Arthur, N.M. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Ramona Chacon and husband Ramon of Artesia, Delia Aranda and husband Glen of Rowlett, Texas, and Mary Maldonaldo and husband Eduardo of Denver, Colorado sons Senobio Aranda and wife Grace of Ft. Stockton, TX, Catarino Aranda and wife Paula of Roswell, N.M., Valente Aranda, Jr. and wife Susan of Lake Arthur, N.M., Margarito Aranda and wife Song of Hobbs, N.M., Bennie Aranda and and Maria Grado of Roswell, and Jaime Aranda and wife Gracie of Hagerman, N.M. 33 grandchildrenand 58 greatgrandchildren.
