Merle Bunting

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 24 at Terpening Son Mortuary for Merle Bunting of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Bunting, 91, died Thursday, February 20, 2003 in Artesia. J. T. Ross will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Mrs. Buntings grandsons will serve as pallbearers. She was born September 18, 1911 in Lea County, New Mexico; the daughter of Courtney Lovejoy and Elsie Bales Lovejoy. She came to Artesia in 1934 from Texas. On September 15, 1942 she was married to Ernest H. Bunting in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death June 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son Dick Terry; and by one brother; and three sisters. Mrs. Bunting was a housewife and member of the Eighth Grand Church of Christ; and the Artesia Garden Club. Survivors include a son Kent Terry and wife Pan of Artesia; a daughter Jeanette Carroll and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister-in-law Dorothy Anderson of Carlsbad; seven grandchildren; three step-grand-children; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of ones choice.
