Melvin Polk, Jr.

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Melvin Lloyd Polk, Jr. of Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Polk, 51, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in Toledo. Leo Pennington will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Polk was born October 8, 1957 in Portales, New Mexico; the son of Melvin Lloyd Polk, Sr. and Yvonne Dew Polk. He lived in Artesia until moving to Toledo, Ohio in 1987. He was a painter in the construction industry and member of First Baptist Church in Artesia. Survivors include his parents Lloyd and Yvonne Polk of Artesia; a brother Billy Polk and wife Cindy of Artesia; a sister Jerrie Darnell and husband Jim of Artesia; his grandmother Averille Dew of Artesia; a niece Brandi Polk; nephews Dustin Polk, Jimmy Darnell, Josh Darnell and Jonathan Darnell; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
