A Memorial Service will be held for Melvin O. "Red" Morgan at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church.
Mr. Morgan, 88, died on February 7, 2024 in Artesia, New Mexico.
Red was born on February 22, 1935, in Cloudcoft to Joseph William"Bill" Morgan and Ruby Alma Barnes Morgan.
He attended grade school in Mayhill, high school in Artesia, and later attended New Mexico State University.
He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Aliene, and a step son Jerry Dale.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the family home, brother Darrell of Alamogordo, daughter Shay and husband Eric of Ruidoso, son Cody and wife Kelly of Artesia, and grandchildren Wyatt and Brady.
He was a rancher, a carpenter, truck driver, soldier, and all around working man, a son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Anything he did he was good at.
He had a special love for young horses, old dogs, and his grandkids.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch of Amarillo, Texas, an organization which Red donated to for many years.
