Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Mayor Manuel Madrid, Artesia, New Mexico. Mayor Madrid, 65, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at his home. Father Chris Santangelo SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel Madrid Jr., Todd Madrid, Bryan Madrid, Bryan Madrid Jr., Michael Madrid and Dominic Madrid. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Hernandez, Leon Molina and Mr. Madrids brothers. A Rosary Vigil service is also planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace. All visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Manuel was born January 30, 1942 in Artesia; the son of Felix Madrid and Senaida Hernandez Madrid. On February 1, 1963 he was married to Linda Larez in San Francisco, Calif. He served on the Artesia City Council for 15 years and served as Mayor since 2005. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father, and by a brother Raymundo Madrid. Survivors include his wife Linda Madrid of the family home; his mother Senaida Madrid of Artesia; sons Manuel Madrid, Jr. and wife Paula of Hobbs, N.M., Todd Madrid and wife Cindy of Artesia, and Bryan Madrid and wife Rhonda of Artesia; a daughter Katrina Madrid and Leon Molina of Artesia; brothers Santiago Madrid and wife Mary of Santa Cruz, N.M., Joe H. Madrid and wife Linda of Roswell, N.M., Sammy Madrid of Artesia, and Jerry Madrid and wife Rayann of Artesia; sisters Margaret Soto and husband Solomon of Carlsbad, N.M., Martha Marquez and husband Manuel of Hobbs, and Mary Ann Cano and husband Joe of Edgewood, N.M.; grandchildren Jenelle, Courtnee, Audrey, Michelle, Daniel, Michael, Marisa, Bryan, Jr., Dominic, Monique, and Nikole; and great-grandchildren Ariana and Desiray.
