Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at House of Restoration, 1311 N. 1st Street, for Maxine Della King of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. King, 91, died Monday, June 23, 2014 at Eastern N.M. Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico.
Pastor Randy Elftman will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.
Maxine was born February 18, 1923 in Colorado Springs, Colorado the daughter of Carl Hofer and Oval Phillips Hofer. She was a longtime resident of Denver, Colorado until moving to Roswell, N.M. in 1994. In 2004 she moved to Artesia.
In 1942 she was married to Bruce N. Jones in Denver, CO who died in 2002. She later married Art King in 1986 and he died in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents son Eric Neal Jones, daughterinlaw Audrey, siblings Lester Hofer, Louise Ellis, Ferne Talmadge, Wayne Hofer, Velma Jonson, and Eldon Hofer and sisterinlaw Birdie Hofer.
She worked as an administrator for Denver Dry Goods Co. and retired in 1986. Maxine also loved to quilt, sew, and was very active in church activities.
Survivors include her daughters Kay Elliot and husband Tom of Denver, and Carol McCormick and husband Carl of Artesia sons Dave Jones of Denver, and Sheldon Jones and wife Betty of Colorado Springs, CO brothers Vince and Merle of Denver sistersinlaw Pat of Denver, and Claire of Symsonia, KY several nieces and nephews grandchildren Monica Lollar and husband Rick, Mike Jones and wife Sarah, Donna Northcote and husband Doug, Jason Elliot, Christopher Jones and wife Amanda, and Sarah Jones and fiance Dan MacDougall and 4 greatgrandchildren.
