A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, December 26 at Catalyst Church for Maxine Gill. Mrs. Gill, 82, passed away December 19, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Nolan Frederick will officiate the service.
Maxine was born September 8, 1934 in Minco, Oklahoma to Claude E. and Roxie Frederick. She later moved to New Mexico where she met and married Bill Gill on May 15, 1953 in Roswell.
She and Bill remained in the area living in Artesia, Carlsbad, Hobbs, and eventually settled in Roswell. Maxine worked as a grocery store clerk and was also employed at Betty K Flowers and Print Shop in Roswell for a number of years before she retired.
Maxine loved spending time with her family. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and she enjoyed being around them as much as possible. She also cared deeply about the needs of others and was always willing to help out any way she could. One of those ways included providing meals because she was an excellent cook. Maxine loved to be around people, and she also enjoyed reading in her spare time. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill Gill, son in law Steve Childress, brother Floyd Frederick, and brother in law Ray Witt.
Survivors include her daughter Debbie Childress of Artesia; son Gary Gill and wife Jackie of Hobbs, NM; sisters Juanita Witt of Cape Coral, FL, and Claudette Easley of Midland, TX; brothers Larry Frederick and wife Nikki of Fort Sumner, NM, Ronald Frederick and wife Brenda of Carlsbad, NM, and Donald Frederick and wife Carolyn of Artesia; five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
