Maxine Cass

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at First Christian Church for former Artesia resident Maxine Cass. PMrs. Cass, 86, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Casa Maria Nursing Center in Roswell, New Mexico. PRev. Gerald Harper will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary beginning at 1 p.m. Tuesday. PMrs. Cass was born September 1, 1919 in Logan, New Mexico; the daughter of J. T. Drummond and Hayden Cadle Drummond. She and her family moved to Quanah, Texas when she was a young child. POn Dec. 12, 1936 she was married to W.B. Dub Cass also of Quanah who worked in his familys dairy business. They came to Artesia in 1960 from Jal, N.M.. He preceded her in death June 27, 1977. PShe was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church where she was active in Christian Womens Fellowship and held positions in the church as deaconess. She often gave scripture-based lessons as part of being a CWF member and was active in the church choir. PShe was preceded in death by her parents, sons Frank Temple Cass and Anthony Mac Cass. PSurvivors include sons William Burr Cass of Roswell, Robert Ben Cass of Houston, Texas, and Rodrick Wyn Cass of Roswell.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Artesia, N.M. Boys Ranch, Angel Fire, or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
