Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Max Montano, Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Montano, 71, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas.
Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services. Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Max was born September 28, 1943 in Cebolla, New Mexico the son of Jose Montano and Ofilia Serrano Montano.
On Aug. 15, 1964 he was married to Marcella Manzanares in Portales, NM. He came to Artesia in 1972 from Portales.
He was owneroperator of Max Montano Trucking. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, loved fishing, hunting and playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anna Gallegos and Kasilda Montano, and fatherinlaw Arcenio Manzanares.
Survivors include his wife Marcella Montano of Artesia daughters Lisa Chavez and husband Manuel of Artesia, Karla Chavez and husband Rene of Artesia, and Tawnya Sanchez and husband Steven of Las Cruces, NM brother Robert Montano of Colorado Springs, CO 6 grandchildren Joey Rayos, Jennifer Rayos, Aaron Ochoa, Luciano Ochoa, Tomas Sanchez, and Farrah Sanchez 6 greatgranchildren Faith Kimble, Marcella Rayos, Jaiden Ochoa, Abrianna Ochoa, JoRiah Rayos and Laura Aguirre.
