Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 20, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for Max E. Baker, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Baker, 74, died Saturday, June 18, 2005 at his home. Bro. Tommy Pugh will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Baker, Gerald Price, Josh Baker, Claude Mauldin, Charles Holder, and Richard Martinez. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m at Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Baker was born April 30, 1931 in Terrell, Texas; the son of William Garland Baker and Reba Jo Martin Baker. On Sept. 24, 1949 he was married to Wynell Nell Woodard in Morton, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1961 from Lovington, New Mexico. He was a Retired Lead Driver for Navajo Trucking and member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Odell Baker, a sister Ruth Poor and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include his wife Nell Baker of the family home; daughters Sharon Price and husband Gerald of Darrouzett, Texas, and Debi Baker of Darrouzett; sons Sheryl Baker and wife Connie of Artesia, and Shane Baker of Artesia; brothers Bill Baker and wife Angel of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Gerald Baker and wife Kathy of Denver City, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
