Mattlee Monroy Atole, 19, was called home on Friday, May 29, 2015 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Artesia, NM.
Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with cremation to follow services. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Vega, Jordan Johnson, Jeffery Wade, Jason Wade, Alonso Ortega and Michael Atole. Honorary Pallbearers will be Luis Zubia, Jorge Martinez, Nathan Miller, Marcos Calderon, Manuel James Calderon and Mikahaela Calderon.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Mattlee was born June 8, 1995 in Carlsbad, NM and was a lifelong Artesia resident.
Mattlee was a student and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He participated in the Special Olympics and loved to travel and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Monroy Castillo Sr., Ishmael Calderon and Bob Atole Sr.; great-grandmother Maria Esquibel; great-grandfather Pedro Trevino; great-grandmother Eduvijes Flores; great-grandfather Francisco Flores.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Rosemary Calderon of Artesia; sisters Mikahaela Calderon of Artesia Xandria Atole; brothers Michael Atole, Manuel Calderon of Artesia, Marcos Calderon of Artesia, Evin Atole of Roswell, NM and Lucian Atole; grandmother Mary Lou Castillo of Artesia, Maria Wells and husband Todd of Artesxia, Elizabeth Calderon and Mike Coburn of Ohio; great-grandmother Isabelle Trevino. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
