Matilde Orquiz

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Matilde Anaya Orquiz, 22 Jerry Dr., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Orquiz, 61, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Artesia General Hospital. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Orquiz, Richard Orquiz, Jeremy Duran, Timothy Orquiz, Andrew Chavarria, and Jesus Anaya. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A Rosary Vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Orquiz was born March 14, 1946 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Gabriel Anaya and Marcela Holguin Anaya. On Dec. 25, 1964 she was married to Guillermo Orquiz in Mexico. A lifelong Artesia resident, she was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and De Colores. She was preceded in death by her father and by one sister. Survivors include her husband Guillermo Orquiz, Sr. of the family home; her mother Marcela Holguin Anaya of Artesia; daughters Cecilia Orquiz of Artesia and Gracie Martin and husband Jerry of Artesia; sons Guillermo Orquiz, Jr. and wife Mary of Artesia, Saul Orquiz of Seminole, Okla., and Fernando Orquiz of Artesia; sisters Ramona Barragan and Guadalupe Rosales of Artesia; brothers Rene Anaya of Roswell, N.M., Raymond Anaya of Artesia, Vicente Anaya of Artesia, Jesus Anaya of Las Cruces, N.M., and Jose Anaya of Artesia; and six grandchildren.
