Mary Waters

Graveside services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Artesia, N.M. for longtime Artesia resident Mary June Waters, of Gunter, Texas. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Mrs. Waters, 84, died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, in McKinney, Texas. June was born April 15, 1920, in Anson, Texas; the daughter of Sam H. Guy and Lillie May Wilson Guy. On September 6, 1941 she was married to Millard Arthur Doc Waters in Anson. In 1947, she, her husband and their son Guy B. Waters, moved to Artesia. They owned and operated Artesia Chemical Company. Her husband preceded her in death May 16, 1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church; a charter member of the Artesia Elks Lodge, and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Survivors include her son, Guy B. Waters and wife Shirley of Plano, Texas; grandson Travis Waters of Katy, Texas; granddaughter Candace Waters of Plano; and great-grandchildren Krystal and Trevor Waters of Katy.
