Closed casket services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, at First United Methodist Church for Mary Jo Walters, 705 W. Grand Ave, Artesia, New Mexico.
Mary Jo, 86, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Artesia.
Rev. Monty Leavell will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reggie Guy, Graham Guy, Chris Kuykendall, Michael Gramley, Dan Purschwitz, Jim Purschwitz, Samuel Christee and Stephen Christee. Honorary pallbearers will be her PEO Sisters. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
Mary Jo was born October 12, 1925 in Hope, Arkansas the daughter of Russell Nathaniel Lochridge and Palma Thornton Lochridge. She came to Artesia in 1935 from Oklahoma.
She married Clyde Guy on January 20, 1946 in Artesia. He preceded her in death August 25, 1997.
On October 18, 2002 she was married to Robert Walters in Dallas, Texas.
She was a homemaker member of First United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter AQ. Mary Jo enjoyed genealogy, painting and pottery, and enjoyed sharing conservative political emails with friends but she was most passionate about her family.
Survivors include her husband Bob Walters of the family home sons Joe L. Guy of Dallas, Texas and Eddie Guy and wife Debbie of Artesia stepdaughters Gretta Gramley and husband Ken of Carmel, Ind. Susan Purschwitz and husband Mark of Georgetown, Ky. and Martha Christee and husband Sam of Cary, N.C. grandchildren Dani Kuykendall and husband Chris, Reggie Guy and wife Staci, and Graham Guy and fiance Kindra Weaver all of Artesia six stepgrandchildren and greatgrandchildren Jackson Clyde Guy, Gracen Renee Kuykendall and Mollie Kaye Guy.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 1492, Artesia, NM 88211 PEO Scholarship Fund, 703 W. Hermosa, Artesia, NM 88210 or to a charity of choice.
