Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at First Baptist Church for Mary Evelyn Terpening of Artesia.
Mary Evelyn, 84, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at her home.
Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Clark, Aaron Horner, Cody Terpening, Darwin Thompson, Bruce Waldrip and Kent Whitmire.
Mary Evelyn was born May 12, 1931, in Carlsbad, the daughter of Joseph T. Price and Gladys (Foster) Price. She graduated from high school in 1949 and was a lifelong Artesia resident.
On March 2, 1954, she married Howard Lyle Terpening in Seven Rivers.
She worked at Hart Motors and then Cox Motor Company for several years. She was a loving and supporting "Mom" in raising her three boys and was an active member of First Baptist Church, including teaching Sunday School for many years. She loved "her kids" and followed them throughout their schooling and sports activities. She was also a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed raising her sheep and goats.
Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by two brothers and a son, Lynn Terpening.
Survivors include her husband Lyle of the family home; sons Henry Terpening and Roy Terpening, both of Artesia; grandson Cody Terpening and wife Laurie of Hobbs; great-grandson Brady Terpening; daughter-in-law Jan Terpening of Hobbs; and a host of her church family.
