Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, at the Hope United Methodist Church, Hope, New Mexico, for Mary Evelyn Teague, 613 Williams St.,Hope, New Mexico. Mrs. Teague, 97, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Rev. Don Johnston will officiate at the services with burial at Lower Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Dean, Rusty Horn, Calvin Horn, Joe Baca, Ron Lacy, and John Phillip Bush. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Monday Mrs. Teague was born May 6, 1910 in Hope; the daughter of Vine Samuel Bush and Mary Adelia Glasscock Bush. On Nov. 2, 1929 she was married to Chester B. Teague in Carlsbad. She was a lifelong resident of Hope. He preceded her in death July 19, 1962. She was a School Teacher at Hope Schools, Roselawn Elementary and a counselor at Zia Middle School. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for many years, District Director of Children's Work for Pecos District of the Methodist Church., International. Who's Who of Intellectuals in recognition of Distinguished Achievement, Sigma Tau Delta elected member of Professional English Fraternity, award for outstanding service to United Fund, certificate of appreciation Personalities of West and Mid-west for outstanding service to community, state and nation, Hall of Fame NEA-NM Southwest District, elected member National Geographic Society, World's Who's Who of Women for Distinquished achievment, member National Honor Society Cardinal Key, International Who's Who of Women, Artesia Public School Certificate of Merit for influence and effort in the cause of public education. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and a sister. Survivors include daughters Betty Terrell and husband Terry of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dorane Teague of Hope; sisters Millicent Lacy and Ruth Rogers both of Phoenix, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews.
