Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21 at First United Methodist Church for Mary Jane Terry Gray of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Gray, 86, died Monday, January 19, 2004 in Artesia. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law Brett Gray, Johnny Puckett, Michael Moore, Rick Glazebrook, Chris Tuttle, Nick Cunningham and Rich Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Beasley, Butch Worthington, Lawrence Goodell, W.I. Bill Johnson, Raul Rodriguez, Proto Leyva, Melvin Wise, Cooper Malone, Glen Jeter, Bill Hunter, Arnold Taylor, B.W. Harper and Mike Salmon. Mrs. Gray was born May 15, 1917 on a farm in Cottonwood, New Mexico; the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Terry and Ellen Montgomery Terry. On August 17, 1937 she was married to Orval C. Gray in Artesia. He preceded her in death August 27, 1997. She was also preceded in death by brothers Judal Terry and Jack Terry and by sisters Boots Wardlaw and Exa Clayton Mary Jane, a lifelong Artesia area resident, was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church where she held many offices and served eleven years as a youth counselor, was a member of United Methodist Women, and served on the board of Landsun Home for five years. She was a member of PEO Chapter J; member of the Community Bible Study; several bridge clubs; and was inducted into the New Mexico 4-H Hall of Fame in 2002. She and Orval spent many years at the family's summer home at Conchas Dam, N.M. where she was a member of the Extension Club, Bible Study, and Golf Association. Survivors include a son Bill Gray and wife LaNette of Artesia; daughters Terry Jane Ritchie and husband Jim of Ruidoso, N.M., Glenelle Butler and Husband Gene of Albuquerque, N.M., and Exa Beth Cunningham and husband Kenneth of Devol, Okla.; grandchildren Brett Gray of Dallas, Texas, Suzette Puckett and husband Johnny of Hobbs, N.M., Cara Beth Moore and husband Michael of Hobbs, MarJane Anderson-Glazebrook and husband Rick of Albuquerque, Jennifer Anderson-Tuttle and husband Rick of St. Bonifacius, Minn., Nick Cunningham and wife Charlotte of Devol, and Rich Cunningham of Devol, ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister Tommie Burnett and husband Clyde of Roswell, N.M., sister-in-law Abbie Terry of Carlsbad, N.M.; and good friend and caregiver Mary Salmon of Artesia.
