Mary Gonzales

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 16, at West Main Baptist Church for Mary P. Gonzales, 925 S. 11th Street, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Gonzales, 72, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. Pastor Abelardo Bolanos will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Willie Padilla, Richard Padilla, Alfred Padilla, Tony Padilla, Freddie Padilla, Jimmie Padilla, and Eddie Padilla. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Gonzales and Roy Hanes. Mrs. Gonzales was born September 26, 1935 in Capitan, New Mexico; the daughter of Willie Padilla and Lucia Montoya Padilla. On Dec. 18, 1951 she was married to Reyner Gonzales in Brownfield, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1952 from Texas. She was a seamstress and member of Iglesia de Bautista and enjoyed camping. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Preceded in death by her father and a son Larry Gonzales. Survivors include her husband Reyner Gonzales of the family home; mother Lucia Montoya Padilla of Mescalero, N.M.; daughters Virgie Anaya and husband Daniel of Artesia, and Patsy Gonzales of Artesia; sons Tommy Gonzales of Artesia, and Ray Gonzales, Jr. of Artesia; brothers Eddie Padilla of Ojai, California, Willie Padilla of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard Padilla of Rio Rancho, N.M., Alfred Padilla of Capitan, N.M., Tony Padilla of Capitan, Freddie Padilla of Alamogordo, N.M., and Jimmie Padilla of Capitan; sister Cecelia of Ruidoso, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
