Mary Jane was born April 8, 1933 in Artesia, New Mexico. Mary Jane's mother died when she was 28 days old. She was an only child to Fannie Keller Hardin and John Wesley Hardin. She lived with her Daddy and grandparents, W.W. Hardin and Mary Krueger Hardin in Hope, N.M. and also with her Aunt Ella Hardin Anderson, Uncle Jess Anderson and her cousin Jean Kimbrough. She traveled back and forth to the Hardin Ranch where Aunt Ella, Uncle Jess and Jean lived. Mary Jane lived in Hope during the school years when it was in session. She met and married the love of her life, W.G. Davis, in Hope, and would have been married 66 years this March 13th. They married March 13, 1950 in Carlsbad, N.M. Their married life took them to Arizona in 1951 for awhile before moving back to Artesia in 1952. They had so many experiences in their married life and were a true inspiration to all of their children and grandchildren.

Mary Jane was a Registered Nurse, working several years at the Artesia General Hospital, then moving on to work at the Artesia Health Department before retiring in 1997. In her retirement she started and later sold a business, called Drug & Alcohol Screening with her daughter and daughter-in-law. She continued to be sought after continuing to giving flu shots and was well known for her painless injections. In her spare time she loved to have family gatherings, to go antiquing to find treasures, crocheting, knitting, searching genealogy and collecting antique furniture. Her truly greatest enjoyment was the many hours her and Gee had friends and relatives over until the wee hours making the greatest music you could ever imagine. Mary Jane was a gifted piano player, guitarist and fiddler making many hoedowns a never to be forgotten experience. She was also a licensed pilot enjoying many outings with her equally accomplished husband.

Mary Jane was tireless with her time and energy and always did everything with love and affection expecting nothing in return. She was always positive, protective and never gave up. She was the center of our family, which in turn, was centered around the knowledge that God and His love for us was what mattered. This was a truly blessed family and her unwavering love and care will be forever missed. Her family and friends will always remember that Mary Jane was proud of her age, 29 and holding!

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, and a step-mother Charlotte Rood Hardin; grandson Wesley Gerrod Davis; and a great-granddaughter Hallie Michele Carlo.

Survivors include her spouse W.G. Davis of the family home; daughters Paulette Harris and husband Mike of Artesia and Twyla Davis of Artesia; son Stanley Davis and wife Denise of Lubbock; grandchildren Jawna Carlo and husband Joe of Artesia, Chad Harris of Artesia, and Mandy Riley and husband Nolan of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren Phelan Wesley Davis, Sysylya Marie Harris, Lexi Quinn Carlo, Mikenzi Jo Carlo, Lincoln Brant Riley, Jackson Forrest Riley, and a new "Baby Boy" Riley arriving in June; sisters Helen Wagner of Roswell, N.M., Katherine Gares of Albuquerque, N.M., Wilma Stevenson of Phoenix, AZ, Edith Billberry of Artesia, and Ethel Strickland of Lovington, N.M.; and a brother John Hardin of Albuqerque.
