Marvin Ray Laman was born December 29, 1946 to Grover and Wanda Laman in Comanche, Texas. He left us on April 28th in Rio Rancho, in the company of his family.
He leaves behind the mother of his daughters, Effie Laman who cared for him in his illness and until his last breath. His two daughters, Chrystal Watters of Las Vegas, NV and Carol Rae Laman of Rio Rancho, NM. Two grandchildren, Austin and Adison Watters of Las Vegas, NV. He leaves behind a treasured companion Lois Wolfe, his three aunts, two nieces and many dear and close cousins.
Marvin was a proud Army Veteran and served his county in the Vietnam. He later worked all over the world, taking his young family from New Mexico to Scotland to Texas. He could fix anything, often with unusual and untested methods. We would look askance at some of his work, but Marvin's crooked grin would convince us that he knew what he was doing.
He always did.
Marvin was the kindest man any of us had ever met. Thin as a whip, with big ears and a perfect mustache, he was the Marlboro man walking through our lives and now our memories.
In lieu of cards or flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Marvin's name at the following website: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/marvinraylaman
Alternately, you could listen to Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson's version of "On the Road Again", and think of Marvin when you find yourself out on the road in the New Mexico he loved so dearly.
Marvin was a day that lasted so long, we will miss him forever.
